Winter is homemade soup time

Buy veggies in season (they're cheaper and better for you), lentils and kidney beans and start making soup. Great for the body, soul and budget.

A cheap hand blender to blend soup directly in the pot is a great investment.

#3     We've been making a lot of soups this winter. Particularly vegetable as we'll go through the frig at the end of the week and determine what's left veggie-wise and throw it in. It disappears quickly in our house!
