Call your credit card companies and ask for the best rate!

They will more often than not be able to give you a better rate especially of you slipped due to late payments.

Do this at least quartely. If you siwtch cards altogtehr to get a better rate, make sure you cancel old cards. Do not start to collect credit cards.

#1     Canceling Old Cards: This can have a negative effect on your credit rating. Transferring the balance from one Card to another is one of the best options. Most companies will close your account without a bad point to your score if you leave it inactive 3-6 months.

#2     Additionally, When you ask for a better rate they will sometimes offer you a larger spending limit, or increase your credit line. This is good sometimes, but check that your APR and grace periods are all the same. Also an increase in the credit line normally involves a $25US-$30US charge which they will gladly apply to your account.
