Decrease shopping costs

Write everything down you might need and then just buy that. Don't buy things you didn't foresee. Always stick to your "shopping list". Shops have all sorts of marketing tricks to lure the customer into impulse-buying.

#1     I'll second this...I just started doing this 2 weeks ago. My wife and I wrote down all the meals we planned on making during the week (note, not eating out to save money) and we saved over $75 of what we normally spent, AND it lasted us 2 weeks instead of 1.

#5     Plan one specific day to go shopping. Try not to go several times a week to pick up extra stuff... you will always come out with more.

#6     We have used the shopping list idea as well and so far so good. We have also started paying cash for everything, harder buying those little extras when you do not have the funds on hand.
